A small selection of my favourite Penny Dreadful quotes...

Hold on, It will get better

Image
During the dark times, I felt that I saw the 'true' nature of the world; that it was too cruel, too complicated, too imperfect. Too hard. And that it would be better, easier to just end everything, rather than deal with the world and all of it's systems. I felt that there was no point. That the world would always be this way, and I couldn't do anything to stop it, so why carry on? Why fight when there was an easier option? In these times, I felt that I saw the world too clearly, and that others lived in ignorance. If you feel, or have felt this way too, I understand. Completely. I understand how painful it is to stay here. How hard it is to fight against something that you agree with, and that you sometimes wish would win. 'If this is the case, then why fight at all?' I would ask. Why am I fighting something that I want so desperately? And guess what, I still don't know why I fought so hard, consciously or unconsciously. But I did. I am stil...

For Deep thinkers and Old Souls

Red bears, purple trees, green oceans and blue elephants.

'When you’re a kid, you color with reckless abandon. You color outside the lines. You color however you feel. Blue elephants, purple trees, red bears, green oceans – it’s all good. As you get older, though, everyone tells you to stay inside the lines, to color everything just like you see it. You end up painting by numbers – whether you actually paint or whether you write or sing or dance or act or direct. I think you should create what you feel. Create outside the lines. I want to watch green oceans and red bears. I’d love to listen to purple trees. And I long to read blue elephants.' -WRDSMTH

Something profound to end your week.

Image
Impulsiveness seems to be a trend these days; reacting quickly to everything without true thought or understanding. Impetuous, I believe is the word. But not just through action; through thought, speech and opinion. It is not necessary to react to everything you notice. Life doesn't have to always be 'an eye for an eye' ('They did this so now I'm going to do that'). Be kind , regardless of whether you think someone deserves it, and regardless of what has happened between you, stranger or not. Leave the world in a better place than you found it. Always. Quote of the Day...

Image
Somehow, walking in nature, I feel a sense of oneness with the universe and all there is, and as I've grown older, this feeling has grown stronger. Particularly as I am coming out of this 'dark night of the soul', I feel more connected than ever, as if this has all happened for a reason, and I am now ready to meet my true self and discover my abilities. Lately, I've been having strange experiences with moths, along with strange feelings and sensations that all feel connected, and while I have always been in-tune with the spiritual and the psychic, something feels different... It seems as if the earth is buzzing with unseen energy that is affecting everything. Have you felt this shift too? IvyMoon xxx

Having a hard day?

Feeling particularly low? Run through this check list before you do anything else: What have I eaten in the last 24 hours? (not much? Eat). Am I hydrated? (Water yourself, pumpkin!). Have I slept? Rephrase: Have I slept properly lately? (Dragons need sleep too). Have I been outside? Exercised in any way I'm able to? (No stagnating please. Stagnant water is no good, least of all to itself). Have I communicated with anyone? In any way? At all? About anything? (Even if you just yell song lyrics at someone through an open window). Still not quite right? Try these: Meditate in nature. Run yourself a relaxing bath; candles, essential oils and face masks included (treat yourself, you deserve it). Walk through grass, barefoot. Tidy up, and prepare fresh, clean sheets for your bed. Eat healthy/prepare a healthy smoothie. Burn scented candles. Listen to music (light music, we want to float, not sink). Create a warm, safe place for yourself, somewhere you can relax a...

'Cwtch'

Image
In Wales, we have something called a 'cwtch'. It's a broad phrase commonly used to describe a warm hug from a loved one; snuggling and cuddling and loving and protecting and safeguarding all rolled into one, and the meaning is this:  'a small, safe place' So, here's my cwtch, from me to you,  IvyMoon xxx
